IAN FOX (British, b. Newquay) – The French Riviera – Mixed media on metal churn with sculptural element, Height: 40 cm.
A refined and evocative mixed-media work by Cornish artist Ian Fox, The French Riviera transforms a vintage metal churn into a vivid Mediterranean tableau. The hand-painted coastal scene, rendered in Fox’s expressive palette, captures the glamour and colour of the Côte d’Azur, framed by sweeping shoreline, pines and sunlit architecture. The piece is crowned by a sculptural group of 1950s bathing figures, enhancing the work’s celebration of leisure, elegance and European seaside heritage.
Born in Newquay and trained at Redruth Art School during the 1960s, Fox is widely recognised for his maritime and surf-culture imagery; his decorated boards and churns have achieved six-figure totals at charity auction and remain sought after by collectors internationally. Provenance: From the Artist.
