vibrant and richly layered mixed-media work by celebrated Cornish surf artist Ian Fox, California Dreamin’ transforms a vintage metal churn into a panoramic homage to mid-century surf culture. The piece incorporates archival imagery, retro surf graphics and acrylic detailing, crowned by a sculptural die-cast Woody wagon with surfboard, creating a nostalgic narrative centred on travel, freedom and the golden era of surfing.
Born in Newquay and trained at Redruth Art School in the 1960s, Fox is widely recognised for his depictions of maritime and surf heritage. His custom-painted boards and churns have achieved six-figure totals at charity auction, and his works are held in private collections internationally.
