A wartime British Army Field Service side cap in khaki wool, fitted with a Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry metal cap badge backed with red felt. The cap retains its twin brass General Service buttons and shows a faint internal stamp reading “71 / 1940,” indicating wartime manufacture, along with a partial War Department broad arrow marking. The interior is lined in gold-tan cotton and shows typical service wear, including fraying near the button area, fading, and age-related marks. The badge and buttons show appropriate patina. Marked size 7⅛. Sold as found, and as with all wartime pieces, originality of badge-to-cap fitting cannot be guaranteed.
