Lovers II” by the British artist Ralph Brown
Offered here is an exceptional sculptural work titled “Lovers II” by the celebrated British artist Ralph Brown RA (1928–2013). Executed in cast aluminium, this wall-mounted relief captures Brown’s unique ability to translate human intimacy and emotional depth into boldly abstracted, tactile forms.
Created circa 1998, “Lovers II” reflects the mature refinement of Brown’s sculptural language—marked by a sensuality that is both suggestive and sculpturally restrained. The surface ripples with pressure and motion, evoking the tension and tenderness between two bodies in close embrace.
Brown was a central figure in post-war British art, known for his ability to humanize modernist form. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1972, and his works are held in major public collections, including the Tate, Victoria & Albert Museum, and Arts Council of Great Britain.
The sculpture has been mounted with a custom aluminium backing panel, complete with pre-drilled keyhole slots, allowing it to be securely and cleanly wall-hung. This makes the piece ready to install in either residential or gallery settings
