A pair of glazed ceramic poultry figures, possibly French, mid-20th century
Comprising a hen with chicks and a cockerel, each modelled naturalistically and finished in softly mottled polychrome glazes, the hen depicted standing attentively over three chicks on a green ground, the cockerel shown crowing atop a stylised base. Both with impressed marks to the underside, indistinct, possibly reading “M…F”, suggestive of continental manufacture. The figures display good weight and modelling, with attractive crackle and tonal variation to the glazes.
Minor wear and surface rubbing consistent with age and use.
Height approx. 16–18 cm.
