Description
Egypt, Hand-painted Papyrus Artwork, Modern Period
A hand-painted Egyptian papyrus artwork, produced in Egypt during the late 20th century. The piece is executed on a natural handmade papyrus substrate using water-based pigments and black ink, with metallic gold-toned highlights applied to the jewellery and headdresses. The central scene depicts two female figures rendered in profile in the traditional Pharaonic style; the figure to the right is a goddess, likely Isis or Hathor, wearing a solar disk and cow horns headdress while holding a was-scepter. She is shown alongside a second figure, possibly a queen or deity such as Mut, adorned in a vulture headdress and a tiered, pleated gown. The figures are flanked by four vertical columns of hieroglyphic characters. The reverse of the artwork bears a printed Guarantee Certificate in Arabic, English, and French, together with a workshop stamp depicting a horse-drawn chariot and the text Original Papyrus. 30cm x 40cm.
