Description
Zsolnay Pompadour pattern porcelain teapot
A Zsolnay porcelain teapot in the Pompadour pattern, featuring a lobed, squat body. The lower portion and the domed lid are decorated with a deep cobalt blue ground, enriched with white transfer-printed foliate and scrolling vine motifs. The upper section of the body is finished in white, with a hand-applied gilt trefoil border at the transition. The piece includes a scrolling handle with a thumb-rest, a curved spout, and a decorative scroll-form finial, all heightened with gilt accents. The base bears the purple printed factory mark with five towers, EST. 1868, ZSOLNAY, HUNGARY, and PÉCS. Additional marks include a small underglaze blue character within a circle and handwritten 1/2 in black ink. Dimensions: Height 13cm, Width 18cm (approximate).
