Collection of Brooke Bond Tea Trade Cards, circa 1960s-1970s
A collection of seven groupings of vintage illustrated trade cards issued by Brooke Bond Oxo Ltd. and Brooke Bond Tea, London. These educational cards, widely collected throughout the mid-20th century, feature high-quality colour lithography and detailed descriptive text on the reverse. The collection includes cards from various thematic series including Olympic Greats (Card No. 34, John B. Kelly), The Language of Tea (Card No. 3, India), Discovering Our Coast (Card No. 23, The Needles), Woodland Wildlife (Card No. 12, Lesser Celandine), 40 Ways to Play Better Soccer (Card No. 22, endorsed by Don Revie), Inventors and Inventions (Card No. 37, Guglielmo Marconi), and Incredible Creatures (Card No. 20, Cleaner Fish). A promotional card for iced tea is also included. These cards served as a popular educational tool, with the soccer series notably featuring an introduction by the England Team Manager from the mid-1970s.
