Description
An Italian Style White and Gilt Ceramic Cobra Figurine circa 1970’s
A professional-grade ceramic figurine of a cobra, depicted in a traditional upright, alert pose with a flared hood and its tail coiled into a stable base. The figure is made of glazed white ceramic with a high-gloss finish, detailed with hand-painted gilt accents. Gilding is applied to the horizontal belly scales on the front of the throat and hood, the eyes, and a decorative sunburst pattern on the top of the head. The back of the hood and the body of the snake feature a moulded, textured scale pattern. This piece is characteristic of 1970s Italian decorative ceramics and is similar in style to the work of Tommaso Barbi.
Around 50cm tall
