Description
Antique 1848 Sterling Silver Berry Spoon – Barker Brothers – Birmingham
A finely detailed Victorian sterling silver berry serving spoon, beautifully decorated with embossed ivy leaves and berry clusters within a scalloped bowl. The elegant tapering handle is engraved with foliate motifs, typical of mid-19th century naturalistic silver designs.
Hallmarked to the reverse with a full set of English marks including maker’s mark B.B. for Barker Brothers and the date letter “Z” for 1848–1849, confirming Birmingham assay. The piece demonstrates the high quality craftsmanship associated with Barker Brothers, one of the notable British silver manufacturers of the Victorian period.
A charming and decorative example of early Victorian table silver, ideal for collectors or for use as a serving piece.
