GDA Limoges Neoclassical Gilt and Floral Porcelain Plates
A set of seven fine porcelain plates produced by Gerard, Dufraisseix and Abbot (GDA) of Limoges, France. Each plate is decorated in a refined Neoclassical style, featuring a broad border with a pale celadon green ground, heavily embellished with raised gilded scrollwork and delicate beading. The border is punctuated by four oval cartouches, each containing a finely executed hand-painted floral bouquet including pink roses, yellow primroses, and blue forget-me-nots. The central white ground is centred with an intricate gilded starburst medallion, encircled by a delicate chain-link swag border in gold. The underside of each plate bears a blue underglaze mark with the word FRANCE curved above a circular border containing the intertwined GDA monogram. Some examples also feature a faint incised letter L. Diameter: 22 cm.
