Description
Delphine China Imari Style Bone China Tea Service
A partial tea service by Delphine China, a trade name used by Hudson & Middleton Ltd of Longton, Staffordshire. The service is crafted from fine bone china and decorated in a traditional Imari-influenced style. The design features a polychrome palette of iron red, green, and blue floral motifs, applied using transfer-printed outlines with hand-painted enamel highlights and extensive gilding. A prominent decorative border consists of a cobalt blue band overpainted with a gold-gilded geometric ladder or gate design. The set comprises six trios (cup, saucer, and side plate), a sugar or waste bowl, and a milk jug. Each piece bears a printed mark in brown featuring a crown above a scrolled banner reading DELPHINE CHINA MADE IN ENGLAND, accompanied by a hand-painted decorator’s or pattern mark in black reading 573.
