Paul, Newquay Hackney Carriage Drivers Engraved Pewter Presentation Tankard, 1987
This commemorative pewter presentation tankard was awarded to Paul by the Newquay Hackney Carriage Drivers in 1987. Manufactured in Sheffield, England, by the British Pewter Company (BPC), the piece is of traditional cylindrical form with a flared base and a decorative scrolled handle. The front of the body is engraved with a presentation inscription: To Paul, FOR ALL THE HARD WORK DONE, WITH APPRECIATION, FROM ALL NEWQUAY HACKNEY CARRIAGE DRIVERS, 1987. The base features the stamped marks for English Pewter, the BPC triangular logo, and the Sheffield origin. This item represents a piece of local Cornish social and transport history.
