Description
Flintlock Style Pistol Lighter, Mid-20th Century
A mid-20th-century novelty tobacco accessory designed in the form of a 19th-century flintlock pistol, styled after French Empire or Napoleonic cavalry models. The item is constructed from cast metal with a copper-toned finish, featuring a chrome-plated barrel and hammer mechanism. The side plates are finished in a gold-tone with decorative scrolled relief patterns, which are mirrored in the cast ornamentation of the grip. The trigger is stamped with the word FOREIGN, indicating it was manufactured for the export market, typically in Japan or Europe during the 1950s to 1970s. The muzzle is fitted with a screw-slotted plug providing access to the flint and fuel reservoir. Overall length 15cm.
