Japanese Novelty Microphone-Form Table Lighter, Chrome and White Metal, c. 1970s-1980s
A vintage novelty cigarette lighter expertly fashioned in the form of a mid-20th-century handheld microphone. The piece is constructed from cast white metal featuring a polished and textured finish. The design incorporates a large hexagonal head with an integrated wire mesh pattern atop a tapered cylindrical handle, closely resembling professional broadcasting equipment of the era. A chrome-plated manual flip-top lighter mechanism is mounted to the side of the handle, stamped JAPAN on the side of the casing. The realism of the piece is further enhanced by a thin black cord extending from the base of the handle. These novelty lighters were popular Japanese exports during the late 20th century, designed as decorative desk accessories.
