Description
A collection of British Post Office PHQ (Picture Card) postcards presented in a blue Stanley Gibbons British Post Office Picture Card Album. The binder features gilt lettering and the SG logo on the spine. The contents consist of multiple multicoloured cards reproducing Royal Mail commemorative stamp designs from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Notable series identified include the 1979 Year of the Child featuring characters from Peter Rabbit and Alice in Wonderland, the 1980 British Birds set, the 1980 Liverpool and Manchester Railway issue, the 1981 British Customs series, and the 1981 Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. Each card depicts a single stamp design with printed simulated perforations and the silhouette of Queen Elizabeth II. The cards are housed in clear plastic protective sleeves within a ring-bound mechanism. These cards were issued by the Royal Mail to provide collectors with large-scale reproductions of the artwork used for commemorative stamp releases.
