Lot 129:
Description
A small black stoneware vase featuring a bulbous body tapering to a narrow base, topped with a short neck and a flared rim. The piece exhibits a dual-textured finish, with a high-gloss black glaze applied to the upper shoulder and rim, while the mid-section and lower body feature a matte, slightly textured surface. The lower portion of the vessel is decorated with a series of finely incised horizontal concentric bands. The form and finish are characteristic of contemporary decorative earthenware or traditional unglazed vessels, such as those produced for curd storage in the Indian subcontinent. No maker’s marks or factory stamps are visible on the base, which retains significant adhesive residue and fragments of a white paper label from previous pricing or identification.
