Description
A Poole Pottery stoneware display plate from the wildlife series designed by Barbara Linley-Adams. The circular plate is constructed from stoneware with a matt, speckled buff glaze. The face is decorated with a sepia-toned transfer-printed illustration of a bird, possibly a Goldcrest, perched upon a coniferous branch with pine cones, with a small bee depicted to the left. The lower centre of the decoration features the hand-painted monogram BLA for the artist Barbara Linley-Adams. The reverse of the plate bears an impressed rectangular mark containing the words POOLE over ENGLAND, alongside an incised stylised character A and a hand-painted numeral 7 in black. The item is fitted with a metal wire spring-type plate hanger.
