Lot 153:
Description
A fitted oak canteen containing a set of early to mid-20th-century flatware, arranged as a service for approximately six persons. The set includes table and dessert knives with stainless steel blades and cream-coloured imitation ivory handles. The spoons and forks are manufactured from nickel silver. The knife blades are etched with the marks for John Clarke & Son, Sheffield, N.E.V.A. Field, and the Firth Stainless mark within a vertical lozenge. The nickel silver pieces bear the stamped mark for Sanders London within a banner, a shield containing the letter N, and are further marked Nickel Silver. The flatware pattern features a rounded terminal with a simple raised decorative border. The knives are designed with parallel-sided blades and rounded tips. The wooden canteen is lined with blue velvet and features a diamond-shaped Fitzall label on the front edge.
