Description
A collection of six items comprising a WWII-era souvenir knife, a commemorative medallion, a trench art lighter, a stick pin, a magnifying glass, and a protective case. The souvenir knife features a curved, single-edged blade with a hooked tip, etched with scrollwork and the inscription NAPLES 1944 accompanied by a cross symbol. The handle is cast from white metal in a figurative design depicting a sea creature or mermaid. The commemorative medallion is struck in gilt metal and bears the inscriptions PIUS XII and CITTA DEL VATICANO with a central papal coat of arms, housed in a clear plastic protective case. The trench art petrol lighter is fashioned from brass components including a small-calibre cartridge casing, fitted with an external flint wheel and striker mechanism. The stick pin is gilt metal featuring the Isle of Man Triskelion emblem. The magnifying glass consists of a brass frame with a turned brass handle. The cylindrical storage case is constructed from a dark brown textured material with a pull-off cap.
