Description
A mid-20th-century circular aneroid wall barometer manufactured by Metamec in England. The instrument features a white dial with a central black and white starburst motif, marked Metamec and Made in England. The dial displays two scales: an inner scale calibrated in millibars from 950 to 1050 and an outer scale in inches of mercury from 28 to 31. Weather indications are printed around the dial including Stormy, Much Rain, Rain, Change, Fair, Set Fair, and Very Dry. The barometer is fitted with a black steel indicator hand and a brass manually-operated set hand. The mechanism is enclosed within a stepped brass bezel with a glass cover, mounted on a circular dark-stained wooden plaque.
