Description
A 1965 UK year set comprising nine denominations. The collection includes a cupro-nickel commemorative Crown featuring the Winston Churchill reverse, a Half Crown, a Florin, an English Shilling, a Scottish Shilling, and a Sixpence. The set also contains a brass dodecahedral Three Pence, a bronze Penny, and a bronze Half Penny. All coins feature the laureate obverse portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Mary Gillick with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F. D. and are dated 1965. The coins are housed in a black plastic display case with clear apertures, inscribed E II R 1965. The Churchill Crown was the first United Kingdom coin of the modern era to feature a commoner on the reverse.
