Description
A Second World War campaign medal group and associated militaria attributed to 2655492 Lance Corporal L. H. Davey, Coldstream Guards. The service number 2655492 falls within the designated block for the Coldstream Guards (2646001 to 2688000). The collection includes a group of five campaign medals comprising a 1939-45 Star, two Defence Medals, and two War Medals 1939-45. These are unnamed as issued and are mounted for wear in two sections. The medals are accompanied by an original Ministry of Defence medal entitlement slip (Form 1732-S) and a white plastic box containing replacement ribbons, including the Italy Star ribbon. A pentagonal brass bed plate is included, featuring the star of the Order of the Garter above stamped text for the Coldstream Guards, the service number, and name. The reverse of the plate bears the maker mark Narborough Birmingham. Documentary items include two Old Coldstreamers Association membership booklets for the Exeter and London branches, a Permanent Pass for the Westminster Garrison Battalion dated 27.11.43, and a typed address slip for the Holding Battalion at Regents Park Barracks. Insignia consists of a pair of embroidered corporal chevrons in brown thread on khaki wool and a black felt curved shoulder title with Headquarters embroidered in yellow thread. The lot is completed by a Manns brewery enamel lapel pin and a wooden cigarette dispenser with a transfer-printed heraldic crest.
