A Collection of Vintage Ceramic Egg Cups and Cruet Sets Including Robertson’s Advertising Figures
A collection of vintage ceramic egg cups and associated cruet sets featuring a variety of mid-20th century designs. Included are multiple items of advertising memorabilia for Robertson’s featuring black minstrel rag doll characters. This group contains figural salt and pepper shakers in formal attire, various egg cups with character decals, one of which is inscribed Robertson’s Golden Shred, and a figural character egg cup. The lot also includes several mid-century modern sets: a group with black and white vertical stripes on a matching stand; a set with delicate black-lined patterns on a circular wooden base with a central metal handle; and an assortment with multi-coloured marbled glazes on a matching plate. Other sets featured include leaf-moulded cups on a green leaf-shaped tray and a blue-glazed cruet set with bird motifs. Pieces are primarily glazed earthenware with transfer-printed and hand-painted details. One item bears the date 1980.
