A Large Collection of Novelty Ceramic and Earthenware Animal-Based Egg Cups
A comprehensive assortment of novelty egg cups, primarily constructed from glazed pottery and earthenware. Within this group, there are more animal-based egg cups featuring figural forms such as owls, penguins, cats, dogs, lions, tigers, giraffes, chickens, and elephants. These items exhibit a range of decorative techniques and glazes, including hand-painted details and moulded shapes consistent with mid-to-late 20th-century production. A notable inclusion is a yellow Buzby character bird cup. Several pieces exhibit small adhesive labels with handwritten inventory numbers, including 357, 436, and 705. While manufacturer backstamps are likely present on the undersides, none are clearly legible in the photographs, though the style is consistent with 20th-century pieces produced in Japan and England.
