A Chinese Bronze-Patinated Metal Figure of a Warrior on Horseback
A Chinese bronze-patinated metal figure depicting a bearded warrior, identified by his iconography as General Guan Yu, mounted on a horse. The figure is modelled wearing traditional dragon-motif armour and a helmet, holding a long-handled polearm known as a guandao. The horse is depicted in a static standing pose on all four legs. The piece is cast with a dark brown patina and features detailed ornamentation to the warrior’s attire and facial features. On the underside of the horse’s belly, there is a small, circular, light-coloured mark appearing to be a casting point or filled hole. No maker’s marks, inscriptions, or signatures are visible on the item.
