A Collection of Japanese Ceramic Character Egg Cups and Guinness Branded Collectibles
A collection of ceramic novelty egg cups and branded miniature vessels. The group features several character-themed egg cups designed in the Toby style, including hand-painted anthropomorphic figures such as a butler, a jester, an elderly man with a moustache, and a Black Americana figure. Several of these items are marked on the underside with the words MADE IN JAPAN and FOREIGN in red or black ink, characteristic of mid-20th-century imports. The collection also includes Guinness branded items, consisting of a miniature handled tankard and two stemless vessels, all featuring the company logo and harp emblem in a black and white colour scheme. The pieces are constructed from glazed ceramic with a combination of hand-painted and transfer-printed decoration.
