A Pair of Staffordshire-Type Pearlware Satirical Legal Figurines
A pair of hand-painted ceramic figurines in the style of Ralph Wood Staffordshire pearlware, depicting satirical legal characters. One figurine features a man in a black frock coat and white neckcloth standing behind a tan-coloured lectern inscribed with the text AN UNFORTUNATE MAN. The accompanying figurine depicts a figure in an orange robe and white headpiece positioned behind a lectern inscribed I AGREE WITH YOU. Both podiums include painted details such as blue inkwells and paper scrolls. The figures are hollow-moulded with unglazed base rims. No maker’s marks are visible.
