19th-Century English Slipware Jug
A 19th-century English slipware jug of baluster form, decorated with hand-applied slip floral motifs and banded detailing in green and ochre tones. With a gently flared pouring lip and loop handle, the jug shows an attractive overall craquelure and surface wear consistent with age and use. The base impressed ‘Made in England’ with pattern number 639 and Roman numeral XVII, likely relating to factory or pattern identification. A characterful example of Victorian English slipware pottery.
