A Collection of Bairstow Manor Pottery Character Jugs and Political Egg Heads
A collection of hand-crafted and polychrome glazed ceramic character jugs and busts produced by Bairstow Manor Pottery, Staffordshire, England. The group includes three figures from the BBC Radio 4 Today Programme produced for the Children in Need charity appeal in 2005, depicting presenters John Humphrys, Sarah Montague, and James Naughtie. Each of these three figures is shown holding a microphone with the Today logo. Also included is a bust of Sir Terry Wogan with a Pudsey Bear figure attached to his shoulder, marked on the base as Togs supporting BBC Children in Need. The collection further includes two Winston Churchill figures from the Political Egg Heads series, both modelled by Ray Noble. One Churchill figure is depicted in a khaki safari suit and sun helmet, marked as a limited edition of 1500 (number 545). The second Churchill figure is shown in a naval cap and dark suit with a cigar, also a limited edition of 1500 (number 170). All pieces bear printed maker’s marks, titles, and descriptive text on the undersides.
