A Cased Early 20th Century Taxidermy Red Fox and Rabbit by W. H. Eva of Penzance
A cased taxidermy display by W. H. Eva of Penzance, dating to the early 20th century. The diorama features a full mount Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) depicted in a standing pose over a rabbit prey. The specimens are housed within a three-sided glass display case constructed with a black-painted wooden frame and a solid back. The interior environment is composed of a hand-painted pinkish-toned background, accented with various stems of dried grasses and a base of simulated mossy and stony ground. A small printed paper trade label is adhered to the lower right of the interior back panel, reading W. H. EVA, TAXIDERMIST, PENZANCE. within a blue dotted border. The case is fitted with two metal loop brackets for wall hanging at the upper edge.
